SMALL WIND ENERGY SYSTEM shall mean a wind energy conversion system shall consist of a wind turbine, a tower, and associated control or conversion electronics, which has a rated capacity of not more than ten (10 kW) Kilowatts and which is intended primarily to reduce on-site consumption of utility power.

WIND TURBINE shall mean the individual component of a small wind energy system that converts kinetic energy from the wind into electrical energy, independent of the electrical conductors, electrical storage system, electrical metering, or electrical inverters. This term shall include the towers or supporting structures.

TOWER HEIGHT shall mean the height above grade of the fixed portion of the tower, excluding the wind turbine itself.

TOTAL HEIGHT shall mean the vertical distance from ground to tip of wind turbine blade at its highest point. (Ord. #2009-144)
